Wilmington
Betsy Palmer and I headed out for a day of discovering artists and local businesses in Wilmington. It happens to be right in our own backyard about 30 minutes away, so we decided to take a closer look at this hoppin’ art town.
Cammeron Batanides, founder of The Starving Artist, and Joe Stauffer, Director of Broken Wings Productions. Cammeron painted this portrait of Joe from a goofy picture that can be found on his MySpace account. Joe is in film and his work speaks for itself. We have some amazing talent in Wilmington!

Image Monster - This place ROCKS!
Image Monster is a Wilmington-based large format digital print shop and a fully functioning graphic design studio. They are located on New Centre Drive and can be reached at 910.313.1154.
Image Monster recently had a call for artists. Kate Sinclair won, and her work now hangs on the side of the Image Monster building. Congratulations Kate!

It looks like Betsy Palmer may be interested in lessons!

Shop local and help our local businesses thrive!
We also visited The Cigar Exchange on 107 Market Street. The owner’s name is Lior Ben-Ami and can be reached at 910.251.5015 and/or by going to their website. It’s a cozy little shop. Check it out!
We stopped in and chatted with Kim from the Native Soul at 25 Market Street. They have tons of beautiful jewelry and other gifts perfect for Christmas or anytime. The prices are reasonable and, just like everyone else listed, they have a sale on select items. Kim can be reached at 910.762.9667 or you can just stop in and browse.
We took this trip to better familiarize ourselves with this great town. We found that the local businesses are fair and sometimes better priced than the big chains where we often shop. We all need to support our local businesses. The owners and staff at the shops listed above were friendly and had a variety of merchandise. Our next visit will be with Wilmington galleries soon!
